Kenneth Hartwell, known to his family and friends as Kenny, age 36, left this world along with his son, Gregory Hartwell, age 9.

Born to Kenneth, Sr., and Donna Hartwell, Kenny was the younger brother of Angela Hartwell. Kenny attended Ogalessa High, where he led the baseball team to regional victories four years running. After graduation, Kenny traveled for a while before taking a job at the family's used car dealership, Hartwell Motors. He married his high school sweetheart, Penelope, and after several years of trying for children, their son Gregory was born.

Kenny was well liked by all who knew him. He made friends wherever he went, whether it was on the sales lot at Hartwell Motors or at Gregory’s Little League, which he coached since Gregory was in the Tee Ball program. A devoted husband and a loving father, he would do anything for his family.

Gregory was a sweet and thoughtful child who loved nature and dreamed of being an entomologist when he grew up. He was much beloved by his father and aunt.

Kenny and Gregory are survived by Kenneth Sr., Donna, and Angela Hartwell. Penelope is also still living.

Funeral services for Kenny and Gregory were held at Foyle’s Funeral Home in Haddon, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gregory Hartwell Memorial Fund, established to provide nature education for children in underserved communities in Texas.
